I thought it was time to write a quick post to introduce you to my new webpage, whether you’ve followed me from my old Nurture Nutrition & Wellness blog or are a brand new reader – Welcome!
My name’s Leesa Young, I’m a naturopath and nutritionist with a practice in Melbourne, Australia. I created this site as a home for all the information and resources I’d like to share with all of you. I’d love to help you learn about how to optimise your health and wellness, and understand what’s really going on in your body.
My area of interest is women’s health, so that’s mainly what you’ll find me talking about. I genuinely believe (because I’ve seen it in action) that when women are healthy and whole, they feel free to be the best versions of themselves. To be the best mothers, the best partners, the most creative, productive and passionate versions of themselves. When you feel whole, you feel more like yourself – more like the “you” you picture when you imagine the best version of yourself.
I work with a lot of women who have hormonal issues; who struggle with stress, anxiety, overwhelm and burnout; who are tired, unmotivated, and struggling just with the basics of surviving. Often these women have lost faith in themselves and their bodies. Maybe they feel like their bodies have let them down, or like they don’t really know what’s going on with their health. And this makes them feel powerless and unable to help themselves, because they don’t know where to turn or where to start! Sound familiar?
My role here is to help you understand, firstly: you’re not alone! There are so many women who feel like this, who have no idea why they feel the way they do, or what to do about it. Most of us are living reasonably healthy lives, making healthy choices, so why do we feel the way we do?
And then I’d like to help guide you to a place where you feel better (because it is possible to feel better). Together we’ll explore why so many of us aren’t feeling great. We’ll talk about what’s normal when it comes to your symptoms, and what’s just so common that it’s now seen as normal, even though it’s far from it. We’ll talk about how your body should feel when you’re well, and what to do when you don’t feel that way. And then we’ll explore all the tools you have at your disposal to start moving back towards a place where you feel in control of your health and your body, where you understand why you feel the way you do, and what to do about it. How to get yourself from just getting by, to a place where you’re thriving, in every area of your life.
And the best thing about this process? Once you’ve worked your way through it, you have this knowledge for life. You’ll have a new understanding of your body and why it behaves the way it does, and you’ll be able to take better care of yourself with the power that understanding brings. And – most importantly – you’ll be able to share it with your loved ones, pass it on to your daughters and nieces and students and granddaughters, and set them up to live their lives with the empowering understanding of their bodies and their health. What a way to move into the future.
It is my mission to make this information available to you, and to make it as clear, simple and useful as possible. I hope you’ll join me on this journey, and I’d love to hear from you about the topics you’d love to learn about!
Yours in health and wellness, now and into the future
